Amanda's Edit: June 2025

Summer has officially arrived — and with it, longer days, chilled glasses of something lovely, and the kind of golden light that makes everything feel just a little more magical. This month’s edit is a roundup of what I’ve been loving, sipping, wearing, and dreaming about lately — from footed wine glasses sturdy enough for even me, to new ceramics I can’t stop staring at, to the most amazing, denim-forward concert I've ever seen. And yes, all of the products I mention here are available either in the store or online! So, whether you’re planning a summer getaway or just want a fresh fixation, I hope something here adds a little spark to your season. Let’s dive in.
Using & Collecting:
I’ve come to accept that I simply cannot be trusted with delicately stemmed wine glasses– I’ve always favored the elegant, slender style of a super-thin stemmed glass– but over the years, I’ve managed to break more of them than I can count! Historically, I haven’t been a fan of thicker stemmed versions. But, that all changed the moment I discovered the Villa Lua Home footed glasses/wine glasses. These glasses strike the perfect balance I have been searching for: sturdy, yet stylish; and with a delightfully reasonable price tag.
Of course, I can’t discuss drinks without telling you about some cocktail napkins to accompany them. We recently started carrying House of Gleason’s cocktail napkins at the store, and I’ve managed to bring home some already. My favorites? The Seashells and the Greek Sculpture Torso. Every time I enjoy a drink with one of these, I am transported to a terrace somewhere in Europe, sipping a chilled Sancerre, nibbling on parmesan and olives, and soaking in that late evening summer sun.
My new favorite ceramic pieces we have in the shop are by Beau Rush. Their shell vase makes me weak in the knees with its subtle blue interior and brushed terracotta exterior. The seashells on this piece make it seem that you stumbled upon some mermaid treasure from a different time and place. When I envision this piece thriving in all its glory, it is overflowing with Thorne Farm’s freshly cut sweet pea flowers or sunflowers (cat friendly) on a Saturday morning. Have you seen the new aperitivo dish– also made by Beau Rush? Imagine some Marcona almonds and cherries filling them, now that's as dreamy as can be.
Last but certainly not least…Flamingo Estate. Let's be honest, it has us all completely enchanted. It’s dangerously easy to become a full-fledged Flamingo Estate store. As a staff, we’ve narrowed down to our absolute favorites (which, truthfully, change daily): the Princesstårta candle, Heirloom Tomato room spray, and the Black Sage & Lavender soap bar are all standouts. Everything is made locally in LA, non-toxic, and entirely perfect.
Out of my Bubble & Around Town:
When it comes to greater Los Angeles, Hollywood Forever’s Cinespia remains one of my favorite summer city night activities. This season kicked off with a screening of David Lynch’s Blue Velvet. If that’s a sign of what’s to come, I’m ready for a weird, soulful, starry-skied summer. The best part? You can bring your own picnic. For Blue Velvet, my friend and I grabbed takeout from Kismet — a spot I’ve been dying to try ever since we started stocking their cookbook at the shop. Check out their summer schedule here!
A night at the Hollywood Bowl always feels tremendously special. The other day, Leon Bridges gave a performance that made my heart melt — not only from his music but also from the denim-clad perfection of his entire band. I left wanting to commission full denim uniforms for everyone at Abierto. His voice, his band, the atmosphere — it all felt like winning the summer lottery.
I also finally made it to RVR in Venice. I only wish I had five stomachs to try everything at once. Highlights included: beets with fried shallots and black sesame sauce, house pickles (don’t skip these — every vegetable is seasoned differently), roasted black cod, and vegetable miso ramen. Easily my new favorite LA restaurant. I just went back this past Sunday after the Long Beach Flea for a solo lunch date where I had the apricot and purple radish starter, and the vegetable miso ramen again. I was lucky enough to sit next to a friendly diner who graciously shared one of his matcha beignets with me (I think he heard me gasp and saw my mouth water when they were brought over to his seat). I finished that meal up with a pour over coffee that they serve with a side of maple syrup that comes straight from the tap in the tree in Canada (for real - and yes, you can absolutely taste the difference - WOW), and house made whipped cream. What an absolute treat.
That’s the June Edit — a little glimpse into what’s been filling my days with color, charm, and the occasional cocktail napkin. Whether you’re headed on a trip, planning a dinner party, or simply soaking up slow summer evenings at home, I hope this inspires a small indulgence or two (or ten). I’ll be back next month with more favorite finds, thoughts, and treasures — until then, come say hi at the shop, treat yourself to something beautiful, and don’t forget: the best moments often start with a glass in hand and your favorite song playing.
With love,
Amanda
